How does Z-LASIK Laser Eye Surgery work?
Laser eye surgery works by gently re-shaping your cornea (the clear front part of your eye) to correct focussing errors like long and short sightedness, and astigmatism. In a LASIK operation, this is a two step procedure. First, a flap is created in your cornea, then a special ‘cool’ laser re-sculpts your cornea, before the flap is replaced.
In the past, the LASIK flap was created with a mechanical blade, which put a lot of people off having LASIK surgery. But with Z-LASIK, there are no blades or scalpels. Z-LASIK uses only the latest all-laser technology for a fast, comfortable and virtually painless LASIK procedure.
Blade-free LASIK for comfort, safety and better results
Thanks to Z-LASIK’s advanced all-laser technology, you’ll enjoy safer and more comfortable laser eye surgery, with better results than ever before.
The world-leading, Swiss-engineered ‘femtolaser’ that creates the flap in Z-LASIK, uses painless bursts of light to gently separate the layers of your cornea. The laser is ultra-fast, and 100 times less intense than previous generations of femtolaser, making Z-LASIK one of the fastest and safest forms of laser eye surgery in the world.
With the precision of our advanced Ziemer Z8 femtolaser, you’ll also benefit from faster healing, and improved visual results – including better night vision. It also makes it possible for many people to have LASIK surgery who were previously unsuitable. So if you were turned down in the past, it may be time to reconsider LASIK. Come and see us for a Z-LASIK consultation and find out if you could enjoy clearer vision without the need for glasses or contacts.
Customised vision correction
Once the LASIK flap has been created, a second laser gently removes very thin layers of tissue from your cornea, changing its shape to improve your focus. At Exeter Laser Eye Surgeons, we use the very latest Alcon Wavelight Allegretto laser – an advanced computer-guided laser that custom-corrects your vision in each eye.
Using a detailed ‘blueprint’ of your eye’s unique characteristics, the Alcon Wavelight Allegretto laser corrects your vision with ultimate precision and safety. The laser even ‘tracks’ your eye to compensate for the smallest movements during treatment.
Once the vision correction is complete, the LASIK flap is replaced and heals naturally. Most patients see the difference in their vision straight away, and can see perfectly again within just a few hours.
